There has never been a better time to try your hand at some DIY around the house. Whether you are an expert in the DIY space or just starting out, we have some fun, creative ideas you can try out in your own home with the help of some spare wooden pallets and some handy power tools hanging around.
1. Wall Shelf
A wall shelf crafted from a single wooden pallet is a fantastic way to bring some rustic charm into your home. With just a few sharp cuts that can be accomplished with the help of a circular saw (or even perhaps a good plunge saw?), this shelf put itself together in no time at all. If you want to give it a more refined finish, sand it down and coat it with a clear wood sealant. Want to add some pops of color? Pick some fun paint samples out at your local hardware store and go crazy. The best part is: paint samples are free!
2. Hanging Swing
A hanging pallet swing is a fantastic addition to any indoor or outdoor space. Break down your wooden pallet and put the pieces back together like a bench. This pallet bench can be anchored into the ceiling or tied with rope to a wooden A-frame. This design instantly upgrades your patio or conservatory.
3. Headboard
A new headboard for your bedroom is probably the more straightforward pallet project you can do, but it also makes a huge impact. The wooden pallet first needs to be disassembled, but after that is the fun part. You can arrange the planks in whatever way speaks to you most. Another helpful aspect of the DIY is that it can be assembled away from the wall, or if you know where you want it to stay for good, you can assemble the headboard straight onto the wall itself.
4. Bed
Why stop at making a pallet headboard when you can make an entire bed out of pallets? There are lots of designs for pallet beds out there, so make sure to pick one that matches your skill level. If this is your first project of this magnitude, pick a simple four pallet design. These designs do not require too much assembling and disassembling of the pallet itself. You can make your own pallet dismantling tool using Beginner Welder. If you are more experienced, then opt for a more complicated assembly.
5. Planter Box
A DIY planter box will look fabulous outside of course, but it also can add some much-needed greenery to an indoor space as well. Their rectangular construction makes them so easy to put together. Once you are finished with the construction, you can leave them looking rough or you can sand them down. Once sanded, add a fun coat of paint or wood stain. If you display your planter outside, change the foliage with the season to keep things interesting.
6. Coffee Table
A coffee table made from a pallet is another DIY that can easily be completed in one afternoon. There are so many different designs and construction ideas out there that you will be able to easily find one that suits your style and decor. For a sleek, modern look, you can top your new coffee table off with a pane of glass. For a rustic look, leave the wood untreated and unfinished.
7. Garden Furniture
You can make your back garden infinitely more inviting with the introduction of a few pieces of patio furniture. Whether you want to craft an outdoor seating area, dining table, or individual chairs, there are DIY outdoor ideas out there just waiting to be executed. Once the base of the furniture is constructed with leftover pallets, finish them off with some fun cushions and pillows. Don’t forget to add some leafy centerpieces to any tables you make in order to draw the eye to them. The possibilities are endless!
8. TV Stand
Lots of people do not immediately think of TV stands when thinking about pallet furniture, however, they are one of the easier pieces of furniture to DIY. There is an abundance of plans and ideas for these pieces, and it is important that you pick your design thoughtfully. After all, the TV and whatever it is standing on can easily become the focal point of any entertainment room.
9. Mirror
Pallets can be used for more artistic projects, like creating art and mirrors to decorate your space as well. A pallet mirror can be an exceptionally cheap project to finish as well, especially if you pick up the mirror at a thrift store. This cheap DIY does a lot in terms of brightening up space.
10. Serving Tray
If you are new to the DIY space, then perhaps you would like to try your hand at a smaller-scale project. A serving tray is a great place to start! Decorative wooden trays instantly brighten up any space and can give your kitchen a sense of elegance and sophistication.
